Experience a Brush With Nature by Linda Pennachio in the Oresman Gallery

Linda Pennachio's latest exhibit titled A BRUSH WITH NATURE, opens in the Oresman Gallery at the Larchmont Public Library on March 2

Linda Pennachio’s latest exhibit titled A BRUSH WITH NATURE, opens in the Oresman Gallery at the Larchmont Public Library on March 2, and will continue to be on view through March 30. Additionally, there will be a reception in the Oresman Gallery on Saturday, March 4, from 2:00 to 4:00pm. Everyone is invited.

For Linda Pennachio, creating art is an adventure. She finds a strong appeal in the process and enjoys the exciting exploration of various mediums. Pennachio started painting in oils in 1968, but stopped around 1974 and didn’t come back to painting until 2001, due to life taking her on a different path at that time. She returned to her artistic adventures in 2001, when she switched over to watercolors, mixed media, acrylics, and digital work and has continued non-stop painting every day since then. In 2016, Pennachio started using pastels and is now back to painting in oils as well.

Within the past two months she has been offered an opportunity to design apparel and textiles. In addition to her artistic pursuits, Linda Pennachio teaches technology at the college level and she ties art and technology together. “Using the computer is a terrific tool for artists to incorporate variety into their work”, said Pennachio. “Textile art has recently become a passion, and tying art, design, and technology together is a perfect fit for me as an artist and technology instructor”.

Linda Pennachio’s earliest artistic influences can be traced back to when she was 17 years old and took painting lessons at the cost of $5.00 per session, from an artist who had the improbable name of Rafael! A tiny wisp of a man and in his eighties, she remembers him painting huge works in oil on large canvases while on a ladder. “His art was beautifully done and the most important lesson I learned from him was ‘knowledge is gained in small doses’”, said Pennachio. “There are many exciting artists out there so I try to learn a little something each day from one artist, as Rafael suggested”. She also includes Willem de Kooning, George Braque and the Old Masters among her influences.

Linda Pennachio lives in Dutchess County where she is a member of ArtEast, a group of artists who exhibit and open their studios in October every year. For more information about Linda Pennachio, visit her online at www.lpfineart.net
