Fall Classes at The Center for Continuing Education

Registration is underway for fall classes at The Center for Continuing Education. According to Executive Director Diane Cashman, “We are pleased to have added several new instructors, programs and staff to continue to meet the interests of our community and engage learners of all ages.”

New teachers include: Joel Goren, a life master and well-known bridge teacher, offering a 12-week Beginners Bridge class; Nora Brunett, of Nora’s Ovenworks, teaching cake decorating and the art of macaron making; Bob Clyatt, a contemporary relief sculptor who will provide a private tour of his studio; and Elizabeth Bradley, who will lead a book discussion and VIP visit to Washington Irving’s Sunnyside in conjunction with the bi-centennial of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

The Center is offering new ways to keep toes tapping including Broadway Basics with a Beat, Beginner Belly Dancing, Musical Chair Yoga and Irish Dancing, with Declan Crowley from Lord of the Dance. The Center also welcomes nutritionist Valerie Green who will discuss Feeding the Empty Nest and Your 50+ Body, and travel writer Evelyn Kanter, author of 100 Things To Do in New York City Before You Die. Foreign language classes in Spanish, French, Italian and German continue as popular offerings.

Martha Sundin is the new Assistant Director of the Center. A Larchmont resident, she has been involved in the Murray Avenue School PTA, the Selection Committee, The Student Aid Fund and The Mamaroneck Schools Foundation. Recent college and 2015 MHS graduate Julia Callahan is the new Registrar as well as Program Coordinator for STEM and After School Enrichment.
