Fatal Basement Fire Takes Life Of Mamaroneck Man

MAMARONECK, NY — A 33-year-old was killed in a basement fire at a Mamaroneck home on Sunday, Village of Mamaroneck police said.

The fire in a home on Walnut Street first reported shortly before noon was quickly extinguished by firefighters, but a body was later discovered in the home. The identity of the fire victim has not yet been released by authorities.

There has been no word yet on the cause of the house fire. The Westchester County Cause and Origin Team and a Westchester County Public Safety arson specialist are said to be investigating.
