Fireworks Cause Barge Fire Near Larchmont Waters
A barge caught fire in the midst of a fireworks show off the Larchmont breakwater last night.
Last night’s fireworks show in the Long Island Sound did not go off entirely without a hitch.
At approximately 10 p.m., a barge shooting off fireworks stationed ¼ mile off the Larchmont breakwater caught on fire, according to reports from witnesses and Larchmont fire department officials.

Since Larchmont fire department does not have a marine unit, said the official who asked not to be named, the Village of Mamaroneck Fire Department’s Marine 2 unit and Seatow, a private, disaster response water unit responded.
According to the official, the people working on the barge put the fire out themselves with the Marine 2 unit.

No injuries were reported.
