Flash Flood Watches Issued For Hudson Valley Wednesday
Some areas may receive as much as 2 to 4 inches of rain.

Flash flood watches are in effect for the Hudson Valley Wednesday into Thursday. There is a flash flood watch for Columbia, Dutchess and eastern Ulster counties in effect until 4 a.m. Thursday.
Showers with locally heavy rainfall along with chances for thunderstorms will continue into the overnight hours.
Runoff from heavy rainfall with rates exceeding a inch an hour at times could result in flash flooding of small streams, creeks and brooks, as well as in urban areas and possibly road washouts.

A flash flood watch is also in effect for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday.
A slow moving frontal system will allow for periods of heavy rainfall with bands of showers across the same areas tonight.

Hourly rainfall rates of an inch an hour are possible.

These types of rainfall rates will cause urban and poor drainage flooding, with potential for flash flooding in areas affected by multiple showers and isolated thunderstorms.
Additionally, rapid water level rises can occur on flashy small rivers and streams in basins affected by the rainfall.
