'Future Filmmaker' Leaves Us Alone With Our Thoughts On Harbor Island
In her second LMC short film, Sara Ettinger explores a few quiet, solitary moments "Skipping Stones" at the beach.

MAMARONECK, NY — The fact that we get nostalgic about high school probably means that we don't remember being a teenager.
In her second film for the LMC Media Future Filmmaker Project, Mamaroneck High School student Sara Ettinger reminds us that those quiet, idle moments we long for can sometimes be anything but quiet and idle. On the other hand, sometimes a skipping-stone breaking the surface of calm waters and sending ripples in every direction before taking flight again is just a skipping-stone.
In any case, Ettinger has created something special and moving once again.

The powerful cinematography at a haunting, but familiar location, plays as a staid contrast to a more manic internal monologue that offers a glimpse of an unseen angst. The uncomfortable moments built momentum with a crescendo that lets the audience, though perhaps not the main character, played delightfully by Abbey Dean, off the hook.
But don't take our word for it — check out her latest short film and see for yourself.

The program is accepting student filmmakers from any Larchmont/Mamaroneck school, including Mamaroneck H.S., Rye Neck H.S. and French American H.S. LMC Media are looking for applicants over 16 years old who can share a body of work with producers to show their capabilities.
The Future Filmmaker project was conceived to hire high school filmmakers to create a short film series. The teens get real work experience as filmmakers, without a big time commitment, and all under the guidance of LMC Media.
The program offers an opportunity for the production team as well as actors. Both will be provided with a stipend for their participation. Perhaps just as importantly, the end results will be seen by LMC's diverse and loyal audience.

Eittinger is the project's inaugural filmmaker. She said she was inspired to start filmmaking with her mom’s iPad and would spend her time creating films with her friends and watching Netflix, which developed her love for filmmaking.
"Filmmaking is this really powerful tool that you could use," Ettinger told LMC. "It’s not just a form of entertainment, it’s a way to connect with people."
Her first two films of the project released so far are proof that she has been successful in that regard.
