Hampshire Country Club Honored By Legislature for Pandemic Work
The New York State Assembly formally honored Mamaroneck's Hampshire Country Club for helping to feed the community during troubled times .

MAMARONECK, NY — Hampshire Country Club accepted a state proclamation for its work helping the community during the global coronavirus pandemic.
Representatives from the club in Mamaroneck joined lawmakers and Mamaroneck Chamber of Commerce officials to receive the honor. The ceremony and presentation of the proclamation took place at a dinner event held at the country club on July 14.
After remarks from chamber president Richard Leimgruber and State Assemblyman Steven Otis, Hampshire owner Dan Pfeffer was presented with a written proclamation under the New York State Assembly seal. The document formally commended Hampshire on behalf of New York State. The club was singled out for its pivotal role in gathering and distributing weekly meals to local first responders during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“During the pandemic Mamaroneck businesses made community needs a priority," Otis said presenting the commendation."Today we recognize the Mamaroneck Chamber of Commerce, Hampshire Country Club, Duck Donuts, Halftime Beverages and Picone Sausage Company for their leadership in feeding residents in need during this difficult time. They embody Mamaroneck’s historic reputation as ‘The Friendly Village.’”
The chamber of commerce launched the food program under the direction of vice president and Hampshire assistant general manager Dorothy Mourouzis. Other local businesses honored by the State Assembly for their parts in the same food program were Duck Donuts, Picone Sausage Company and Halftime Beverages, all based in Mamaroneck, along with the MCOC itself.

“Supporting our community's emergency professionals and volunteers during a time of crisis is a privilege and responsibility we are glad to accept," Mourouzis said on behalf of the honorees. "Our thanks go out to them, and to all the local small businesses who rallied their resources to make this effort a success.”
