Hudson Valley Towns Graded From A+ To C-: How Did Larchmont Do?
See what communities are graded as the best and worst places to live on a New York "report card."
LARCHMONT, NY — This is one heck of a report card. Niche has come out with its new 2017 rankings of the "Best Places to Live" in New York, but it took a bit of a unique approach: The consumer rankings service assigned a grade, on an A+ to D- scale, to almost every city and town and many neighborhoods around the Empire state.
In the Hudson Valley, 24 of our Patch communities received A+ grades. Only four received a grade less than a B-. One of the fascinating things is that in many cases, Niche actually separated out villages, cities or neighborhoods from their surrounding towns.
Larchmont and the Town of Mamaroneck received an overall grade of A+; the Village of Mamaroneck, A.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche.com took several factors into consideration, such as the quality of local schools, crime rates, housing trends, employment statistics and access to amenities.
