Larchmont Business Owner Helps Apprehend Perpetrators
Larchmont police, with help of Clarke Auction Gallery owner Ronan Clarke, arrest driver who struck two dogs.
Two individuals sped down North Avenue, away from Cornerstone of Larchmont, and injured two dogs last Saturday. The individuals were apprehended almost immediately afterward by Larchmont police with the help of Ronan Clarke, owner of Clarke Auction Galleries.
Clarke noticed the two individuals when he arrived for work Saturday morning to prepare for an upcoming auction.
"I saw a man and woman sitting in an SUV," Clarke said. "I thought they looked suspicious, for whatever reason, and pulled in behind them."

Clarke noted the individuals became spooked, and sped down North Avenue. They struck two dogs belonging to Doug Mooney, owner of Cornerstone of Larchmont, a construction company.
"At that point I drove after them," Clarke said. He pursued the individuals until they became stuck in traffic at East Avenue. Clarke then exited his vehicle and stood in front of the SUV to prevent it from departing the scene.

"When [the Larchmont police] arrived, they handcuffed the driver and passenger and took them away," Clarke explained.
The Larchmont Police could not be reached for comment.
Mooney expressed gratitude for Clarke's actions.
"I very much appreciate what Ron did," Mooney said, adding that the two individuals had a spool of metallic wire in the back of their car, which may have been stolen from his premises. He also noted neither dog was gravely injured.
