Larchmont Man Charged for Robbing Local Shop (Updated)
The 46-year-old man was carrying an uncharged BB gun rifle when he was caught near the scene.
A Larchmont resident has been charged with second degree robbery, and is being held in jail for allegedly robbing a local store with an unloaded BB gun rifle last Saturday, police said.
Jerome Healy, 46, allegedly entered Healthy Choice Fruits and Vegetables at 16 Chatsworth Ave. shortly before 6 p.m. on Saturday, brandishing the simulated rifle and demanding money from the store owner, according to police reports. After handing over $350, the men struggled and were eventually found wrestling on the ground outside of the store by police, who had responded to several 911 calls directing them to the scene.
Healy, who lives on Addison Street, around the corner from where the robbery took place, was subsequently arrested, charged with second-degree robbery (a felony) and remanded to the Westchester County Jail. He appeared in court last night and bail was set at $15,000.

His legal counsel stated that investigations had revealed that the gun was not charged, and that the defendant had one prior violation of controlled substance possession, but no prior criminal history. Healy has lived in Larchmont for ten years and is on social security disability, she said.
Asked by the Judge if he had any weapons, Healy said he had a pellet gun he had never used and ammunition to load it at home. The Judge said that would need to be removed by police.

Prior to being arrested, Healy seemed to have been taking several medications, according to an exchange between the counsel and the judge. He will continue to be monitored by a doctor at the jail and is due back in court on April 27th.
