Todd Morris, resident of Larchmont, NY and the CEO of Brickhouse Security, was recently featured on the SafeSoundFamily.com website as part of a panel of cyber safety experts who gave advice on "Internet Safety for Kids" http://safesoundfamily.com/blog/internet-safety-tips-for-kids/.
The "Internet Safety for Kids" guide features advice from 17 cyber safety experts, including tips from Todd Morris. Mr. Morris was handpicked by the editorial staff at Safe Sound Family to participate on the panel of experts because of his thought leadership and experience with Internet safety and was asked to share advice for parents on how to keep kids safe online.
SafeSoundFamily.com spoke with Morris about his thoughts on child safety. Morris says “based on lots of conversations with our customers, the thing that parents struggle with most is how to balance their need to know what their kids are up to while giving them the freedom and trust they need to develop emotionally. That problem hasn’t changed much across the generations – our parents and grandparents had the same concerns. But the nature of communication, especially among teens, has shifted so radically in 20 years, that today’s parents are navigating the digital landscape without a compass, or if you prefer, without an app.”
Morris explains that “there are plenty of easy-to-use technology solutions out there – simple, affordable ways to monitor your kids’ activity on their phones and computers, even after the communications have been deleted. Only you can decide if these devices fit into your parenting philosophy, but many would argue that it’s not only within your rights as a caregiver to look into teen monitoring options, it’s also a moral imperative.”
Todd Morris founded the New York City-based Brickhouse Security firm in 2003 after an impressive 15-year career in the software industry, where he worked for such visionary companies as Apple, Adobe and MapQuest. He lives in Larchmont, NY with his wife and children, and holds a BS in International Business from American University – Kogod School of Business.
