TOWN OF MAMARONECK, NY — A new animated series is bringing the "three R's" of local recycling (reduce, reuse, recycle) to life in a fun, new way.

LMC Media and the Town of Mamaroneck announced that they have created a new video series about the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Sanitation Facility at Maxwell Avenue. The series uses animation created by LMC Media to highlight how residents can best make use of the resources at the facility.

Created by Dena Schumacher, LMC Media's Assistant Director, with support from the Town of Mamaroneck’s Sustainability Collaborative, the five videos were created on topics such as electronic waste, recyclables, organic waste, food scraps, and furniture recycling, in addition to a five-minute comprehensive overview that includes all of the individual segments.

The videos were intended to be an entertaining way to educate residents about recycling, and were especially topical this week due to "America Recycles Day" being celebrated nationally on November 15.

"As a Climate Smart Community, we are committed to sustainable solutions and we want to help our residents utilize our local resources to reduce waste," Jaine Elkind Eney, Mamaroneck Town Supervisor, explained. "We were happy to partner with LMC Media on this project."

The video series has already been shared online via social media, at schools, and in community newsletters, and will circulate indefinitely.

"This series can serve as a classroom companion for teachers to present lessons in a way that is more relatable for students, but the animation is not just for kids," Matt Sullivan, Executive Director of LMC, said. "This series is a creative way for local governments to reach residents who might not otherwise seek out the information for themselves. LMC hopes to expand this series to cover more topics."
