LoHud: Mount Vernon Firefighter ID'd As Lost Swimmer

James Drago, 49, of Yonkers went missing on Saturday after going for a swim in the Long Island Sound.

The person who went missing after taking a swim from his boat anchored near the Larchmont Shore Club on Saturday has been identified by his family as James Drago, 49, according to The Journal News. 

The Yonkers resident has been with the Mount Vernon Fire Department for over a decade, and was described by his family "as a loving man in good health who enjoyed relaxing on his boat" in the report. 

Drago's son told The Journal News, "My father and I were very close and I'll never give up faith that he's out there."

The Larchmont Police Department was notified of the disappearance at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to a press release issued by Chief John Poleway. The search for Drago, which involved members of the New York City, New Rochelle and Village of Mamaroneck police departments, the Coast Guard and others, was suspended on Saturday night.
