Mamaroneck Emergency Medical Service Launches 2015 Fundraising
'Our ambulances are not purchased by the Village but rather by funds raised from the very community we serve.'

From Mamaroneck Emergency Medical Service
Mamaroneck Emergency Medical Service (MEMS) launched their annual fundraising efforts this past week. Since 1973, MEMS has served the Village of Mamaroneck by responding to 911 calls for medical assistance. Last year alone, our dedicated volunteer members contributed their time and expertise to respond to over 1,500 calls for service. MEMS is filled with volunteer medical personnel who care; they care about our community’s wellbeing and are standing-by to respond at a moment’s notice to help in times of need.
According to Chief Jason Capalbo, “We rely on the generosity of our community to keep our doors open. Our ambulances are not purchased by the Village but rather by funds raised from the very community we serve. Our fundraising efforts pay for 100% of our ambulances and many of the basic pieces of equipment our members need to serve the community.” Chief Capalbo continued, “We are actively fundraising for $150,000 to purchase a new ambulance to replace the older one in our fleet of two. Our ambulances respond 24 hours a day, every day and we stretch their lifespan as much as possible without compromising safety or reliability. Contributions from the community are essential to our ability to continue serving.”
Highlights from this past year include a successful emergency child delivery, hosting six community CPR classes, hosting a community blood drive, and standing-by at dozens of community events.
