Mamaroneck FBLA- Chapter of the Year!

Mamaroneck FBLA attends the New York State Leadership Conference and blows away the competition

Mamaroneck FBLA attended the annual New York State Leadership Conference in Binghamton, NY from April 10 through April 13th.

The State Leadership Conference is prepared for all year by FBLA members throughout the state, and is an amazing experience for all members. There are many aspects to the Conference, but the most exciting aspect is competition. FBLA offers a plethora of competitions for members to participate in such as Introduction to Business Presentation, Accounting exams, and Basic Decision Making. Some competitive events test knowledge, while others test public speaking and presentation skills.

The first day of the State Leadership Conference was exciting for all. Many members competed and attended informative workshops lead by the State Officer Team. Opening session was that night which kicked off the conference officially, and is where the new mainline State Office candidates introduced themselves and performed their speeches. The mainline State Office positions include President, Executive Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter, Historian, and Parliamentarian. Prior to Opening Session, candidates for District Vice President spoke in front of each district.

The second day of the conference was also filled with competition and workshops, as well as fierce campaigning by all of the hopeful State Office Candidates. At Closing Session that night the 2018-2019 State Officer Team was announced.

Mamaroneck FBLA was proud to support Michaela Gualano, who ran for District 3S Vice President, and Andrew Danziger, who ran for Treasurer. Both Michaela and Andrew were elected, and will begin their term as State Officers.

On the last day of the conference an award ceremony was held and Mamaroneck FBLA came out on top. Not only did the majority of members place in the top five in their events, but Mamaroneck FBLA was awarded Chapter of the Year! Mamaroneck advisor, Maria Siciliano celebrated her birthday that last day and was overjoyed with the honor. She felt it was one of the best birthday presents she could have received.

Members who qualified will be attending the National Leadership Conference this June in Baltimore, MD to compete once more.
