Mamaroneck Police Blotter: Kids Crash After Mom Exists Car

After leaving the car in the driveway, the mother heard it hit the garage door. The kids received medical attention.

The Town of Mamaroneck Police Department investigated the following incidents between Aug. 9-15, 2010:

Motor vehicle accidents with injuries

- On Aug. 10, at approximately 8:20 a.m., a Forest Avenue resident said she left her vehicle in the driveway of her home, possibly with the transmission in reverse and the ignition on, and went inside, according to police reports. The driver's three children, ages 2, 0 and 0, were left in the vehicle, fastened in their car seats. While in her residence, the woman told police, she heard a loud noise and went outside. She found her vehicle against her home's garage door, with the children still in the vehicle. An anonymous witness advised her that the vehicle had initially rolled in reverse from the driveway, striking a tree and then rolling forward and striking the garage door. The children received medical attention, but the injuries, if any, were not specified by police.

- On Aug. 10, at approximately 3 p.m., a vehicle traveling northeast on Murray Avenue rear ended another vehicle, which was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Murray Avenue and Weaver Street. A passenger in the second vehicle, a 57-year-old female, complained of neck pain and was taken to a hospital.

Burglary

- Between Aug. 7 and 13, an unknown subject stole a Mac computer, valued at $1,500, and jewelry, valued at $2,000, from a Fernwood Road home. A window in the rear of the house was damaged. No arrests have been made.

- Between July 31 and Aug. 9, a Hillcrest Avenue home was burglarized, according to police reports. No missing property was listed, but the rear door was broken.

Menacing

On Aug. 11, at approximately 6 p.m., a 47-year-old male was arrested inside a Villa Road home and charged with first-degree menacing for his role in an incident involving a family member.

Larceny

An unknown subject attempted to steal almost $70 worth of groceries at the Stop and Shop on Boston Post Road. When confronted by the individual who reported the theft, the subject fled.

1 hit and run in the parking lot of Excelsior Cleaners at 1320 Boston Post Rd.
