Mam'k Police Blotters: ConEd Worker Is Hit by Car

A car disappeared from Palmer and Rockland avenues; four family members were arrested.

Last week, the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department investigated the following incidents:

Storm aftermath

In the week following the storm, Village residents reported the following hazardous conditions: a tree down on power lines on Claflin Avenue, a low-hanging wire from traffic light on Mamaroneck Avenue, a light fixture pole down on Colonial Ct., a wire down on Grand Street, a branch hanging on wire on Fifth Street and a traffic light not working on Boston Post Road.

Family arrest

On March 19, at approximately 6:45 p.m., police officers were dispatched to Mamaroneck Aveunue and Van Ranst Place on a report of a possible dispute. Upon arrival, they encountered a disorderly 18-year-old female who was yelling at a group of men and failed to comply with police requests, according to reports. She was subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Her brother, 16, was arrested for interfering with the arrest, and their mother was arrested for disorderly conduct (pounding on a police car). The father was later stopped while driving and was found to be without a driver's license, vehicle registration, inspection certificate and insurance. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the 2nd degree and the vehicle was impounded. The family lives in the Village of Mamaroneck.

Hit & run involving pedestrian

On March 16, at approximately 4 p.m., a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, which then drove away, on Baldwin Place. The victim, a Con Edison worker, was hit behind the legs, causing him to fall on the hood of the vehicle and then on the ground, he told police. With the assistance of citizens, police were able to locate the vehicle. Upon being arrested, the driver said he did not stop because he did not realize he had hit a pedestrian. He was released and was due back in court on March 18.

Stolen vehicle

A woman told police that she parked her 1995 Acura near Palmer and Rockland avenues on March 18 at approximately 7:45 p.m. When she returned the next morning, the vehicle was gone, she told police.

Burglary

- A Washington Street resident told police that between Feb. 25 and March 18, someone had entered her home and removed property. There were no signs of forced entry.

- Between 4:30 p.m. on March 19 and 5 p.m. on March 21, someone gained entry to the Hampshire Country Club's clubhouse and discharged a fire extinguisher, police said.

Criminal mischief to vehicle

On March 19, a Knollwood Avenue resident told police that their vehicle, which had been parked on that street since 7 p.m. the night before, had the driver's side window smashed and a radar detector stolen.

In addition, police officers also investigated the following:

- 18 motor vehicle accidents

- 5 domestic disputes

- 4 arrest for unlicensed operation

- 2 larcenies

- 2 arrests for DWI

Hit & run

On March 20th, the Town of Mamaroneck Police Department assisted the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department with the arrest of a 48-year-old man who had caused property damage with his vehicle and escaped the scene of the auto accident.

Criminal mischief

A Murray Avenue resident reported damage to the home's side basement window.

In addition, police officers also investigated the following:

- 14 hazard calls, most of them related to the March 13 storm (In the 24 hours after the storm hit our area, the Police Department received over 100 calls, which is three times what they usually get, they said.)

- 12 motor vehicle accidents
