Mamaroneck Police Blotters: New Rochelle Man Charged with 3 Felonies
A 25-year-old man from New Rochelle hit a utility pole while driving while intoxicated and unlicensed. The passenger was injured.

This past week, the Town of Mamaroneck Police Department investigated the following incidents:
Vehicular assault and DWI
- On March 27th, at approximately 3:45 a.m., police arrested a New Rochelle man for driving while intoxicated and unlicensed and charged him with three felonies. Reynaldo Alvarez, 25, of New Rochelle, lost control of his vehicle and hit a utility pole on the 1200 block of Boston Post Road. As a result, the passenger was injured and transported to a hospital. Alvarez refused to submit to a chemical test, which is a violation, and was charged with DWI (felony), aggravated unlicensed operation (1st degree felony- he had lost his license during a previous DWI incident) and aggravated vehicular assault (felony).

Criminal mischief
- On March 28th, at approximately 2:40 a.m., police received a report of damage done to a vehicle parked on Wellhouse Lane. A tire was slashed and a subject was identified by a witness. The matter is still under investigation.

- Between 7 p.m. on March 24th and 10 a.m. on March 27th, a vehicle parked on Jefferson Street sustained scratches to the passenger's side rear and front doors.
Petit larceny
- Between 5:30 p.m. on March 25th and 9 a.m. the next day, an iPod touch valued at $200 was stolen from a business on Boston Post Road.

- 5 motor vehicle accidents
Between, March 22nd and 26th, the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department investigated the following:
Burglary
- On March 22nd, a Mamaroneck Avenue resident reported a burglary in the past. She told police that her apartment on the 200 block of the avenue was entered between Feb. 27 and March 18, 2010, and jewelry was missing. There were no signs of forced entry. The matter is still under investigation.
Arrests
- On March 22nd, at approximately 8 p.m., a 46-year-old female was arrested at Sal's Pizzeria for disorderly conduct. The Village resident was intoxicated and yelling inside the premise and refused to leave when police asked her to, according to police reports. She was taken to the police station, where EMS was called due to her condition. She was released on an appearance ticket and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
MVA with injuries
- An 85-year-old woman said she was driving west on the 700 block of Boston Post Road when another vehicle came into her lane, forcing her to collide with a parked vehicle. As a result of the accident, both vehicles were towed from the scene. The woman complained of headache and dizziness, but police don't know if she received medical attention.
Drug offense
- On March 25th, police arrested a 15-year-old youth for criminal sale of marihuana. He was released on a juvenile delinquency appearance ticket and is due to appear in family court on April 6th.
Larceny
- On March 25th, at approximately 10:51 a.m., a female caller reported that she had cash stolen from her handbag by an unknown female and male at the CVS Pharmacy on Mamaroneck Avenue. It is not clear how the parties gained access to the victim's purse, but it appears that she was tricked because they did not forcibly take anything from her, police said. The victim is 30 year old and a resident of the Village.
Two other larceny cases were reported earlier in the week, one involving jewelry missing from a home and another a mountain bike missing from an open garage.
Criminal mischief
- There were two reports of criminal mischiefs to vehicles, one on Center Avenue on March 22nd, at approximately 2 a.m., and the other on Underhill Avenue on March 24th, at approximately 11:10 a.m.
In addition, police reported:
- 10 motor vehicle accidents
- 4 identity thefts
- 3 vehicle and transit arrests
- 1 "hit & run" auto accident
