Mamaroneck Village and Town Police Blotters

Three larcenies and two stolen vehicles reported during the week of March 29 – April 4

Last week, the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department investigated the following incidents:

Petit Larceny:

On March 29, a 30-year-old Village resident was detained at the A&P at 805 Mamaroneck Avenue. He was stopped from leaving the store after it was observed that he had paid for some items and concealed others, according to police reports. He was released on $500 bail and was due back on April 1.

Burglary:

A local homeowner reported that silverware had gone missing from her home sometime between February 28 and March 31. It appears there was no forced entry and the matter is under investigation.

Stolen Vehicle:

On April 1, a White Plains resident who rents a garage space on Sheldrake Place reported his 2000 black Honda missing. The vehicle was said to have disappeared sometime between March 30 at 11:30 pm and April 1 at 2:48 pm. On April 2, police were notified by the New York Sanitation Police Department in Brooklyn that the vehicle had been located in their jurisdiction.

A 50-year-old male from White Plains reported his motorcycle was stolen from a garage at 622 3rd St. sometime between Saturday, April 3 at 11 pm and the next morning at 10am.

Assault:

On April 1, police responded to a fight in progress on the 300 block of Mamaroneck Ave. Upon arrival, they witnessed four males, all 16, fleeing the area. Near the train station, two people fitting the description given by the victim were stopped. It was confirmed they were involved and they were taken into custody and charged with assault third. A short time later, the two other teens involved came into police headquarters inquiring about their friends and were also taken into custody. All four were held and later released on appearance tickets.

Drug offense:

At around 10:30 pm on April 2, police noticed a suspicious vehicle on Fayette Ave. Upon investigation, they found three of the five teens in the car in possession of marijuana. The other two were let go.

In addition, there  seven motor vehicle accidents, including three "hit and run" accidents, seven "vehicle and traffic" complaints and four domestic disputes.

During the past week, police from the Town of Mamaroneck Police Department investigated some the following incidents:

Grand Larceny:

On March 31, at 9:50, a gift card valued at $4.99 was reported stolen from the CVS Pharmacy on Boston Post Road.

Petit Larceny:

On March 30, at 10:30, a Bronx resident reported that someone entered his vehicle, which was parked on 5th Avenue, and stole a SONY DVD Player and an XM radio. Each item was valued at $200. The matter is under investigation.

Identity Theft:

A Larchmont resident reported that during the period of March 20 – March 29, someone attempted to open a Verizon account in his name, according to police reports.

In addition, there were three motor vehicle accidents and one arrest.
