Mamaroneck Village Resident Sentenced to 25 Years For Sexual Abuse

A 20-year-old Village of Mamaroneck resident, Elmer Pinto, was sentenced today to 25 years in state prison nearly six months after he was convicted of one count of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a class “B” felony and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a class “A” misdemeanor, according to the Westchester County DA’s office.

Pinto was arrested on after the 9-year-old victim was at the police station with his mother on an unrelated matter, saw a “Wanted” poster and alluded to a police officer nearby that a family member had abused him. 

When police opened an investigation, the victim said that he had engaged in sexual contact with Pinto between June 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010 on four different occasions, including at least one incident of anal sex.  Pinto also performed sexual acts in front of the victim and showed him pornographic videos.

At sentencing, it was revealed that Pinto attempted to buy the victim an iPod Touch and a bike and give the victim’s mother $5,000 in an effort to get the victim to recant his testimony.

The court imposed the maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison, with 15 years post-release supervision.  Pinto must register as a sex offender upon release.
