Blotters: Larcenies from Cars in Shore Acres
Several items were stolen from vehicles parked on Shore Acres Drive last week. Most vehicles had been left unlocked.

The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department investigated the following incidents last week:
Burglary
- Between April 12 and 13, a briefcase was stolen overnight from a vehicle parked in a garage on Shore Acres Drive. The door to the garage had been left open prior to the incident, police said.

Larceny from a vehicle
- Between April 13 and 14, a briefcase was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway of a home on Shore Acres Drive, police said.

- Between April 14 and 15, an iPod was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on Shore Acres Drive.
- Petit larceny: In the early morning of April 16, a GPS was taken from a vehicle parked on The Parkway. A glass window was broken, police said.
- On April 16, at approximately 12 p.m., a Garmin GPS and a charge card were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on Shore Acres Drive.
- On April 16, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a GPS was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on Shore Acres Drive.
Criminal mischief
- On April 16, at approximately 9:35 a.m., the front passenger window of a vehicle parked on Alda Road was broken. A Prada handbag valued at $600 and a pair of shoes valued at $150 were missing, but were later found across the street.
Suspicious incident at the Hampshire
- The complainant told police that on the Hampshire Country Club's grounds he had seen three trees or bushes missing with holes in the ground. The officer saw three holes near the front entrance, police said, but they appeared to be old.
DWI
- On April 16, at approximately 12:50 a.m., a 44-year-old resident of Bedford Hills was stopped by police for speeding and swerving on the 1400 block of Mamaroneck Avenue. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated but refused to take the data master test. He was charged with speeding, making unsafe lane changes, refusing to submit to a chemical test and DWI, and is due back in court on April 22.
Fire
- On April 16, at approximately 5:30 p.m., police received notice of and responded to a structure fire at 1050 Seahaven Dr. in Orienta. Read more about it here.
Disorderly conduct
- On April 17, at approximately 4 p.m., a 47-year-old man from Waterbury, Conn., was seen trying to sell jewelry to business owners on the 400 block of Mamaroneck Avenue. When asked to leave, the man picked up a hatchet and menaced a worker, police said. In addition, he provided police with a false identification and was carrying four small bags of marihuana. He was charged with criminal impersonation (misdemeanor), unlawful possession of marihuana (violation), peddling without permit (violation) and menacing in the second degree (misdemeanor).
- On April 18, at approximately 1:20 a.m., a 23-year-old resident of the Village was stopped by police on South Barry Avenue for interfering with traffic at a traffic stop. When ordered to go back into his vehicle he became verbally abusive and refused to comply with police orders, waving his arms to avoid being handcuffed, police said. He was charged with disorderly conduct (violation), resisting arrest (misdemeanor) and obstructing governmental administration (misdemeanor).
In addition, police investigated:
- 6 Vehicle & Transit Law arrests
- 10 motor vehicle accidents, one of which was minor and involved a pedestrian
- 2 cases of identity theft
- 2 charges for unlawful possession of marihuana
The Town of Mamaroneck Police Department investigated the following incidents last week:
Grand larceny
- A middle-aged female is suspected of shoplifting $12,534 in merchandise from the Gap store at 1340 Boston Post Road in the morning of April 14, Town of Mamaroneck Police said.
The incident, which took place between 11 a.m. and noon approximately, was recorded by the store's surveillance system. A female was seen entering and exiting the store numerous times carrying a silver bag. Later that day, store employees told police that numerous clothing items were missing from the store.
The suspect was described as being a black female in her 30s-40s, 5'10'' tall and weighing 160 pounds. She was wearing black pants and a black shirt, police said.
Petit larceny
- Between April 16 and 17, a Garmin GPS and a $20 bill were stolen from a vehicle parked on Rebeau Drive. No signs of forced entry were reported.
The matter is still under investigation.
In addition, police also investigated 3 motor vehicle accidents, none of them with injuries.
