Mamroneck Painter Paints Historic Homes in the Sound Shore
A reception for Marcia Jaeger—who got her start as an artist later in life—included paintings and photographs of historic homes in the area
Local painter Marcia Jaeger opened her exhibit of paintings and photographs of local homes and landscapes Monday at the Larchmont Public Library.
The exhibit called "Historic Homes of Manor Park and Scenes of Premium Point" will be on display at the Oresman Gallery at the library through August 30.
Jaeger spent the night describing her paintings and greeting guests."I feel wonderful and very fulfilled tonight," she said.

Jaeger, a Mamaroneck resident, selected 11 homes in New Rochelle and Larchmont while sailing from Horseshoe Harbor in Manor Park. She said that she became fascinated with some of the houses she saw and created a "plein-air" series in which she sat outdoors in front of the houses while painting their likeness.
She said most of her paintings took a week or more to create and the whole exhibit was completed in about 11 months.

Jaeger is a retired tech style designer and art teacher. She has been painting for five years.
Her childhood friend Sheryl Strear of Manhattan said Jaeger has been an artist since she was a little girl.
"It was always there," Jaeger said, referring to her abilities. "But I only started recently."
Wendy Hilburg of Larchmont said she enjoyed the exhibit.
"I own a real estate company so I like the pictures of the houses because this is what I do," she said. "They are very good and they capture the moment."
Jaeger said that her favorite painting is "The Arts and Craft House," a painting of an 1800's style home on Prospect Avenue in Larchmont.
"I feel it is the best artistically realized," she said. "It made me happy."
Jaeger said that the homes and landscapes are special to her.
"They just capture the fantasy," she said. "They are just beautiful American homes."
