Standoff Ends at Mamaroneck Home
The incident began more than seven hours ago at a home on Woodbine Avenue.
UPDATE: Village of Mamaroneck police responded to a call this morning from a woman who said her husband had barricaded himself inside their residence at 815 Woodbine Ave. after they had a verbal argument, according to a release sent out by the police tonight. The woman indicated that her husband possibly had a rifle in the house.
The man—who remains unidentified—refused to communicate with police on the scene, so the assistance of the Westchester Department of Public Safety was requested. Police began negotiations with the man.
Teenagers from nearby Mamaroneck High School and residents that lived within the perimeters of the police barricades were advised to avoid the area for their own safety.

The standoff at a home in Mamaroneck has come to an end more than seven hours after it began.
A man had barricaded himself inside a home on 813 Woodbine Ave. around 11:30 Monday morning. He has been taken into custody, according to news reports.
Detective Sandra Diruzza, a spokesperson for the Mamaroneck Police Department, told Patch earlier in the day that police believed the man was unarmed. Diruzza could not give more details about the incident when Patch spoke to her, but she said it was standard protocol for police to call in a SWAT team when events like this take place.
Woodbine Avenue was blocked for most of the day, beginning from Rockland Avenue and Carpenter Place. Police also blocked the outside perimeter of the area around Sand Street, Richbell Road, Palmer Avenue and Harmon Drive.
Several residents had been told not to leave home and others who weren't home when the incident began weren't being allowed back into their residences.
Mamaroneck High School was placed on lockdown earlier in the afternoon. The school has cancelled all after school activities for this evening.
