The sexual abuse happened in 1998, and the man was finally apprehended in 2016.

MAMARONECK, NY — A man extradited from Guatemala who pleaded guilty to child sex abuse will be going to prison for 10 years. Luis Ortiz, 50, was sentenced Tuesday, Dec. 19 in Westchester County Court. The charge Ortiz pleaded guilty to was first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a felony.
Ortiz, who is from El Salvador, was extradited from Guatemala, where he was living, in May and was returned to Mamaroneck Village Court on a bench warrant issued in 1998 when he did not appear in court on two felony complaints.
According to law enforcement officials, a 5-year-old victim in 1998 told her mother that Ortiz had sexually abused her while she was in his home.
