POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A man who was murdered near Stitzel Field in April was stabbed, then shot with both an AR style rifle and a pistol.

On Wednesday, the Dutchess County District Attorney’s office released new details about what happened to the victim, 46-year-old Carl Chambers.

Four men were arraigned this week in connection with the April 19 homicide, including Peter Green, 31, Shanardo Green, 29, Paul Green, 35, and Tyrese Hall, 21.

Poughkeepsie police arrested the men in June, and a grand jury has also returned an indictment against them, prosecutors said. Each faces a charge of second-degree murder.

Several people had gathered at Stitzel Field for a local adult soccer game, according to police.

Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi said, “The allegations contained in this indictment describe an extraordinary level of violence and a complete disregard for human life and public safety.”

“According to the investigation, this attack unfolded in a public area where community members had gathered for a soccer game, placing countless innocent people at risk,” Parisi said. “No one should have to fear that an afternoon at a neighborhood park could become the scene of deadly violence.”

Prosecutors said Peter Green and Tyrese Hall drove a Mitsubishi to the area, while Paul Green and Shanardo Green followed behind them in a Nissan.

Peter Green and Tyrese Hall exited their vehicle near Chambers and an altercation ensued, according to the district attorney’s office.

Prosecutors said Peter Green is accused of stabbing Chambers on the right side of his torso. The indictment claims Shanardo Green exited the Nissan carrying an AR style rifle, then fired it at Chambers multiple times.

According to prosecutors, Tyrese Hall then stood over Chambers and shot him with a pistol.

Paul Green drove all of the defendants from the scene in the Nissan, the district attorney’s office said.

Peter Green, Shanardo Green and Tyrese Hall were all remanded without bail. For Paul Green, bail was set at $1 million cash, $3 million bond and $7.5 million partially secured bond.

All four are due back in court on Oct. 16.
