Movement to Preserve Larchmont Homes Receives Attention
Older, sometimes larger homes are being replaced by two or three new ones.

A campaign to preserve Larchmont’s older, grander homes grew out of a number of houses that were torn down.
The village’s board of trustees recently passed a six-month moratorium on residential develop, the New York Times said.
Mayor Anne McAndrews told the newspaper that the trustees wanted to be able to determine if demolishing leading to building is a growing trend.

She said that it was important to know if the village was meetings the needs of present day.
What has led to the “Preserve Larchmont” movement, the Times said, is that sometimes one home is torn down and is replaced by more than one.
