LARCHMONT, NY — Long before there were the Kardashians and Jenners, the American public was obsessed with the every move of a different celebrity family.

The Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions, LMC Media, the Larchmont Library and The Sandbox Theater have joined forces to present “An Ozzie & Harriet Christmas."

The holiday family special is set to take place at the Larchmont Village Center on December 11, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The production will present the unique story of one of radio and television's most popular sitcom series — Ozzie & Harriet, broadcast an astounding two decades from 1944 to 1966.

The event will take attendees back to a time when the radio and tv lives of “America’s favorite young couple” meant everything and watching David and Ricky Nelson grow up was a national pastime. The story of Hollywood will culminate with Ricky Nelson's rise to become one of the very first teen idols.

The holiday production will start at 2 p.m. with a multi-media presentation on the not always glamorous back-story of Ozzie & Harriet.

The highlight of the event will be the live recreation of an Ozzie & Harriet Christmas radio episode, presented by the Sandbox Theater Company. It will be followed by a screening of a Christmas episode from the TV series. The radio recreation and the TV episode will include a few surprises for those in attendance to enjoy and a chance to win a one-of-a-kind Ozzie & Harriet prize.

An Ozzie & Harriet Christmas is co-sponsored by the Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions, the Larchmont Library, LMC Media, the Sandbox Theater and the Society for the Preservation of Radio Drama, Variety and Comedy. The events will be video recorded by LMC Media giving attendees a chance to be a part of television history themselves.

The Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions Club signature cause is the promotion of eye health. Because audio drama is important to those with vision limitations, the Lions will donate a classic radio show CD collection to the library to support their already significant audio and large print materials and resources for the blind and vision-impaired. These resources will be on display in December.
