Police Blotter: Accident Brings on Contractions, Loose Change Bandit and Hit and Run

The following arrest information was supplied by the Village and Town of Mamaroneck police departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Village of Mamaroneck

Monday, March 26

10:02 a.m. – A total of $30 in loose change was stolen from a Shore Acres Drive resident’s unlocked car while it was parked in his driveway.

5:45 p.m. – A resident reported a broken playground ride at the Palmer Terrace apartment building.

10:25 p.m. – Six vehicles had damage to driver’s side mirrors while parked and unoccupied on 4th and 5th Streets.  The culprit is unknown.

Tuesday, March 27

12:50 a.m. – An 18-year old New Rochelle man and an 18-year-old village woman were issued summonses for being in Harbor Island Park after 10 p.m., a village code violation.

Wednesday, March 28

9:33 a.m. – A $400 phone was stolen from an Oakhurst Road resident’s unlocked BMW, which was parked in his driveway.

10:54 a.m. – The loose change bandit struck another resident on Stoneybrook Avenue, who reported that someone entered his unlocked VW parked in the driveway overnight and removed the change scattered around his interior.

12:28 p.m. – The Fire Department extinguished a burning piece of wood on the train tracks on Halstead Avenue.

5:44 p.m. – Two unlocked cars parked on Stoneybrook Avenue—a 2004 Toyota parked on the street and a 1998 Jeep parked in a driveway—were entered by an unknown culprit, who pilfered $400 from the Toyota and came away empty-handed with the Jeep. 

Thursday, March 29

6:41 a.m. – As the driver of a 1994 Toyota was stopping for a red light on Orienta Avenue, another car came swooping around the corner, sideswiping the car before continuing on its way.  The hit and run driver was unknown.

6:19 p.m. – After a casual conversation with one of the occupants of a 2006 Toyota on Jefferson Avenue, a 14-year-old boy was turning to leave when he was struck by the driver, an 18-year-old New Rochelle man.  The driver left the scene, but was later caught and arrested while his car was parked in Larchmont.  The 14-year-old boy was taken to the hospital for an arm injury.

9:30 p.m. – An unknown person opened a store credit card in a West Boston Post Road’s resident’s name and made $1,000 in fraudulent charges.

Town of Mamaroneck

Monday, March 26

11:58 a.m. – A 46-year-old resident reported scratches on the driver’s and passenger’s side doors of her 2010 Honda Accord while it was parked at on 1100 Palmer Ave.

Tuesday, March 27

11:13 a.m. – A man with stained teeth and an acid stomach was observed stuffing $53 worth of Crest Whitestrips and $28 of Prilosec from the on 2444 Boston Post Rd. into a shopping bag without paying.  He was arrested for petty larceny.

Wednesday, March 28

2:02 p.m. – The shock of a smash-up on Boston Post Road between a 1993 Honda and a 2007 Honda driven by a woman eight months pregnant, caused the 37-year-old women to feel contractions. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Thursday, March 29

7:48 a.m. – A bicyclist hit a 2012 Kia traveling 1350 Boston Post Rd. when she misjudged where the car was turning, and smashed into her passenger side door.  The bicyclist complained of leg pain but refused medical attention at the scene.
