Police Blotter: Attempted Prophylactic Theft, Daytime Break-In and Smashed Windows

The following arrest information was supplied by the Village and Town of Mamaroneck police departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Village of Mamaroneck

Monday, August 15

10:14 a.m. – The owner of a 1998 Mitsubishi reported that a passenger side window was smashed anytime between August 12 and August 15, while parked on Phillips Park Road.  No items were removed from the car.

11:44 a.m. – Three dogs were running loose around North Barry Avenue.  Their owner was located and he corrected the situation.

3:15 p.m. – A Henry Avenue resident was contacted by American Express about a suspicious $1,150 charge on her credit card.  The charge was flagged as being fraudulent.

Tuesday, August 16

4:37 a.m. – A disgruntled cabbie who did not receive his fare after dropping his passenger at a location on Ward Avenue, was promised the money the following day.

5:37 p.m. – Two cars parked in a lot on the 1000 block of West Boston Post Road—a 2010 Mercedes Benz and a 2002 Honda—were both broken into.  The Mercedes’ front passenger window was smashed and a passport was taken.  The Honda’s rear passenger window was smashed, however, no items were missing.

7:39 p.m. – A 19-year old homeless woman with no permanent address was creating a public disturbance by cursing loudly while standing on Old White Plains Road.  She was arrested for disorderly conduct and released on an appearance ticket.  She will reappear in village court shortly.

10:30 p.m. – A car was impounded on 540 Mamaroneck Ave. and taken to Vincent’s Garage for safekeeping. The reason for the impound is unknown.

11:00 p.m. – Police received an anonymous call about a suspicious vehicle with youths parked in front of an unoccupied house on Sylvan Lane.  Police found some of the individuals and questioned them, however, no crimes were found to have been committed.

11:08 p.m. – A resident of 2nd Street reported a refrigerator and assorted tools as missing, however, there was no sign of forced entry to his home.

11:52 p.m. – Police investigating a report of suspicious activity at a location on Palmer Terrace found out that the resident was having his car repossessed.

Town of Mamaroneck

Monday, August 15

9:55 a.m. – Thieves broke into a home on Lakewood Lane despite a blaring alarm system, snagging a $12,000 emerald ring and a $27,000 rug on their way out.  They gained entry to the home via a rear sliding door that was forced open.  No one was home when they broke in.  The matter is under investigation.

1:47 p.m. – An employee at the . caught a youth attempting to pilfer a $16 12-pack of Trojan condoms from the store.  Police thwarted the youth in his efforts and the property was returned to the store.  The store declined to press charges. 

Tuesday, August 16

3:45 p.m. – A Wood Street resident reported his Apple MacBook Pro13 valued at $1,577 as missing from his home.  There was no sign of forced entry. The matter is under investigation.
