Police Blotter: Change Discrepancy, Dented Cars, and a Dead Cat

The following arrest information was supplied by the Village of Mamaroneck police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, June 15

11:16 a.m. – The owner of a car parked on Cortland Road overnight—near Boston Market—noticed a new dent on the hood when he returned to the car in the morning.

Thursday, June 16

12:46 a.m. – Police on routine patrol issued a 20-year old White Plains resident two summonses; one for parking in Harbor Island Park after 10 p.m. and one for being an unlicensed driver.

3:13 a.m. – After they received a noise complaint about two men parked in a car on North Wagner Avenue, police investigated and charged one of the men—a 21-year old village resident—with DWI.  The other man—a 20-year old village resident—was charged with disorderly conduct for screaming obscenities in public.

6:39 a.m. – A caller complained about a dead cat in the middle of 1000 E. Boston Post Rd., near Mamaroneck High School.  A trapper was contacted to come collect the remains.  The cause of death is unknown.

6:40 a.m. – A stop sign on Library Lane was struck by an unknown vehicle.  The sign was tagged and placed in police custody.

7:32 a.m. – An animal—described as a large dog or wild cat—was reportedly dashing through a Halstead Avenue resident’s yard.  The animal was gone when police arrived.

7:38 a.m. – Three tires of a Honda Accord parked in the driveway of a residence on Chestnut Avenue were damaged overnight.

12:18 p.m. – The employee of a business on the 300 block of Mamaroneck Avenue—unsure if he had been swindled—reported that a customer came into the store, bought several items, and received change, although the customer claimed otherwise.  Unsure about the resolution of the transaction, the employee gave the customer another $10 in change.  The employee told police there was video surveillance of the entire transaction, although he only reported the incident for documentation purposes.

3:19 p.m. – A bicycle was found in the grass on the 500 block of Mamaroneck Avenue.  It was tagged as found and taken into police custody.
