Police Blotter: Computer Theft and Bicycle Accidents

The following arrest information was supplied by the Village and Town of Mamaroneck police departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Town of Mamaroneck

Wednesday, June 1

11:45 p.m. – A resident on Wagon Wheel Road called police to report the larceny of a PC laptop, Mac laptop, Xbox 360, iPod Touch and MP4 player. Noel Coombs, 25, of Elmsford, was arrested and charged with grand larceny in the third degree. He attended town court on June 6.

Thursday, June 2

7:45 p.m. – A person is wanted after his/her vehicle struck and damaged the asphalt curb and a portion of a retaining board on Daymon Terrace.

Saturday, June 4

2:24 a.m. – After being stopped by police for driving through a traffic stop on Weaver Street, a male youth failed sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He posted a cash bond of $150 and was due in town court on June 6.

Sunday, June 5

12:30 p.m. – A suspect is wanted for burglary in the third degree after a Harmon Drive resident reported tools and supplies stolen. The owner of the private residence had last visited the property on May 20th, and reported that upon his return, a Craftsman router and router bit set, nail gun, air compressor, 25-foot air hose and microwave were missing. The stolen property was reported to be worth $1,940. Police report no signs of forced entry, and no arrests have been made.

8:00 p.m. – A woman living on Hawthorne Road called town police after she received annoying text messages by an unknown male, police said. No arrests have been made.

Monday, June 6

8:10 p.m. – Upon leaving the town court for charges made on June 1, Noel Coombs, 25, of Elmsford, damaged two police cars as he was being transferred to Westchester County Jail. While inside the vehicle, he kicked the window in one of the vehicles, said police. He was charged with criminal mischief in the third degree.

Village of Mamaroneck

Wednesday, June 1

12:38 a.m. – An alarm activated on the 1100 block of West Boston Post Road was found to be set off in err by cleaning staff.

2:14 p.m. – An unknown male attempted to break into a vehicle on Rockland Avenue. The suspect fled, and no arrests have been made.

4:57 p.m. – A 35-year-old male from Mamaroneck was issued a village code summons for possession of an open container on Union Ave.

Thursday, June 2

10:08 a.m. – The owner of an Acura sedan walked into police headquarters to report larceny of four rims and tires taken off of the car while it was parked in a lot on Waverly Avenue.

5:51 p.m. – A 20-year-old male from Mamaroneck was struck by an unknown vehicle while crossing the street on his bicycle. He complained of slight elbow pain according to police, but declined medical attention.

8:00 p.m. – A Jeep was reported to have been taken while parked on Cedar Street. It was recovered the following morning on Mt Pleasant Avenue.

Friday, June 3

12:08 p.m. – A 25-year-old female driver from Hastings struck a pedestrian as she backed out of a private lot parking space. The pedestrian, an 83-year-old woman from Harrison, was taken to White Plains Hospital with reported leg and back pain.

Saturday, June 4

9:51 a.m. – An auto accident involving a bicyclist occurred on the 900 block of East Boston Post Road. The bicyclist, a 21-year-old male from New Rochelle, was taken to Sound Shore Medical Center for abrasions after he and a car hit. The car was driven by an 84-year-old Mamaroneck woman. No charges were filed.

6:44 p.m. – While on patrol, an officer observed a 19-year-old male from Stamfordville, NY, riding his bicycle on the sidewalk of the 600 block of Mamaroneck Avenue. The person was stopped and advised of the violation. He was issued a summons and was due in court on June 7.

Sunday, June 5

10:17 a.m. – A report of a male exposing himself in the roadway led to the arrest of a 32-year-old Mamaroneck man. He was charged with exposure for urinating in public and for the possession of an open container.

5:13 p.m. – Benjamin Hawkins, 29, of New Rochelle, was charged with petit larceny and possession of stolen property when police responded to a call by the victim, who observed Hawkins riding his recently stolen bicycle on Boston Post Road.
