Police Blotter: Family Feud In Grocery Store Parking Lot, Vengeful Dog and Disappointed Burglars

The following arrest information was supplied by the Village and Town of Mamaroneck police departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Village of Mamaroneck

Friday, September 16

3:02 p.m. – An employee of a jewelry store on the 200 block of Mamaroneck Avenue reported that a woman stole a $38 pair of earrings from the store.  The employee declined to prosecute.

4:30 p.m. – A fire alarm was falsely activated by overcooked food at a residence on Old White Plains Road.

8:14 p.m. – A disoriented elderly man claimed that he had made the 12 mile trek from his home in the Bronx to the 200 block of Mamaroneck Avenue on foot, where he was found by police.  He was returned home via car.

8:44 p.m. – What was originally thought to be a fight in progress, was actually the ramblings of an intoxicated man.  The man was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Saturday, September 17

2:20 a.m. – A 33-year-old Port Chester man was pulled over for a motor vehicle infraction in Harbor Island Park.  He was later found to be driving while intoxicated, and arrested for DWI.

11:31 a.m. – Police on routine patrol noticed damage to a small slide in Jefferson Avenue Park. The slide was taped off until repairs could be made.

1:02 p.m. – The owner of a 2004 Toyota that was parked and unoccupied on Livingston Avenue between 9/16-9/17 reported that the rear window vent was broken.  A GPS and miscellaneous coins totaling $150 were taken.

Sunday, September 18

2:44 a.m. – Two friends got into a brawl on Center Avenue which resulted in a 26-year-old village man socking a 17-year-old village man with a closed fist in the face.  The victim was taken to the hospital for a bloody nose and facial contusions.  The 26-year-old man was arrested for third degree assault and disorderly conduct.  He is due back in village court this Thursday.

7:57 a.m. – A woman whose vehicle was left unlocked on Wagner Avenue, reported that her car was entered and her wallet stolen, however, when the wallet was later found discarded on the street, nothing was missing.  No other items were missing from the car.

5:13 p.m. – Exiting a residence on Skibo Lane after showing it to a potential renter, a woman was bit in multiple places by a black Afghan dog belonging to the current renter.  The woman who was bitten filled out the standard forms for dog bites, including a county bite form and emergency medical service refusal card.

10:33 p.m. – A 19-year old Rye Brook man riding a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle smashed into a 2001 Chrysler in front of on 1000 Boston Post Rd.  The motorcyclist was treated on the scene for pain but refused further treatment.

10:45 p.m. – The police were contacted with a report of two suspicious men peering into cars at on 1305 E. Boston Post Rd.  Police spoke with both men who had just come out of work at a local restaurant and had stopped to check out potential cars to buy.

Friday, September 16

3:00 p.m. – A 49-year old Dillon Road resident reported her Direct Express debit card as stolen after discovering several fraudulent ATM transactions. The woman noticed her card missing on Sept. 1 at 10 p.m.

Saturday, September 17

5:28 p.m. – Graffiti on traffic control signs in the area of Weaver Street and Harmon Drive were reported.

5:39 p.m. – A feud between family members in the parking lot of on 1266 Boston Post Rd. resulted in one member falling and causing damage to a car.  No charges were pressed.
