Police Blotter: Residents Dodge Erratic Drivers, Library Theft and Lost Car Finds Its Owner
The following arrest information was supplied by the Village and Town of Mamaroneck police departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Village of Mamaroneck
Monday, Jan. 23
9:13 a.m. – A 2002 Toyota was struck while it was parked and unoccupied on 1030 W. Boston Post Rd.

11:52 a.m. – A cultured thief stole a $1,000 Diana Durantel painting from the “Life Bloom” exhibit at the sometime between Jan. 20 and Jan. 23. There were no signs of forced entry into the library. The case is under investigation by the Village of Mamaroneck police.
12:38 p.m. – A sizable amount of money—$6,600—was fraudulently withdrawn from a Halstead Avenue resident’s bank account. The forged check is under investigation by the resident’s bank.

6:11 p.m. - As she crossed the street near 421 Mamaroneck Ave., a 53-year-old village woman was hit by a White Plains resident inattentively piloting a 1996 Toyota. The woman was taken to the hospital with abrasions and a possible neck injury.
Tuesday, Jan. 24
8:34 a.m. – Firefighters responded to a report of a gas leak at an office building on It was a routine gas leak; Con Ed responded to repair.
2:00 p.m. – In a convoluted set of circumstances, a car was reported stolen and then recovered at a local gas station, where it had been taken for service. The Union Avenue resident who reported it stolen did not recall requesting the service appointment.
Wednesday, Jan. 25
9:31 a.m. – Police issued a summons to the owner of a limo that was parked in front of 718 Prospect Ave. for several days, in a residential area.
9:47 a.m. – A graffiti tag was found scrawled on a fence on Colonial Court anytime between Jan. 24 to Jan. 25.
12:03 p.m. – Several items mysteriously disappeared from a victim’s work desk between Dec. 30 and Jan. 23. The business was located on the 600 block of West Boston Post Road.
9:36 p.m. – While crossing the intersection between Library Lane and West Boston Post Road, a 13-year-old village girl was hit by an errant SUV, whose driver callously fled the scene. The girl was treated on the scene for a leg contusion.
Town of Mamaroneck
Monday, Jan. 23
3:12 p.m. – A 5th Avenue resident reported that someone attempted to open two fraudulent bank accounts in his name. There was no monetary loss.
4:27 p.m. – In a five-minute window, an individual reported that a $100 iPhone was swiped from his/her unlocked car parked in the driveway of a residence on Murray Avenue.
Wednesday, Jan. 25
3:02 p.m. – A Murray Avenue resident reported six fraudulent withdrawals from his/her Chase bank account totaling $3,000.
