Police Blotter: Stolen Car Found In Bronx, Car Rolls Away From Owner and BMW Loses Tires Overnight

The following arrest information was supplied by the Village and Town of Mamaroneck police departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Nov. 2 

1:15 a.m. – With police in hot pursuit, a man wearing a plaid shirt and tan pants ran down Mamaroneck Avenue after fleeing from behind the wheel of a stolen car.  The Mamaroneck Police Department assisted Westchester County Police in the capture. County police took the man into custody.

11:10 a.m. – A resident of Fairway Green reported $1,000 in jewelry as missing from her home.  She estimated that the theft had occurred on Oct. 11 between 1-5 p.m.  There were no signs of forced entry.

1:55 p.m. – Three village residents—ages 58, 31 and 38—received village code violations for consumption of alcohol in public on Van Ranst Place.

2:14 p.m. – A $500 locked mountain bike sustained damage to the rear tire and brakes after it was left at a bike rack on Library Lane. 

3:06 p.m. – A 2010 Nissan was struck while it was parked and unoccupied in the parking lot on 1000 W. Boston Post Rd.

3:52 p.m. – A shady individual attempted to cash fraudulent checks on a Delancey Road resident’s bank account.  No money was lost.

4:30 p.m. – A smash-up between two cars—a 2004 BMW and a 2010 Land Rover—resulted in a 79-year old woman—the passenger in the 2004 BMW that was hit—being taken to the hospital with neck and back injuries.

4:39 p.m. – An overly aggressive dog bounded out onto 1st Street, growling menacingly and threatening to bite a neighbor’s dog in the process.  The two owners sparred over the dog’s behavior, however, the dog ended up being all bark and no bite.

5:29 p.m. – After her Facebook and e-mail accounts were hacked, an Andrew Street resident reported the incident to police.

Thursday, Nov. 3

12:15 a.m. – Police investigated a complaint of loud music emanating from a car parked at 640 E. Boston Post Rd., the site of the former Applebee’s.  The condition was corrected.

1:49 p.m. – After having her hair roughly grabbed and pulled by her acquaintance—a 38-year old man—a 19-year old village woman reported him to police.  The man was charged with second degree harassment. 

5:20 p.m. – A month and a half after it was reported stolen, a 1992 Honda was recovered in the Bronx by the New York Police Department (NYPD).  The owner of the car was contacted.  The condition of the vehicle was unknown.

5:58 p.m. – Two men—a 29-year-old New Rochelle resident and a 26-year old village resident—were both arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance after an investigation by detectives.  The village man was also charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance near a school, a felony.

9:58 p.m. – After she ran out of gas on Mamaroneck Avenue, a woman attempted to push her car to the nearest gas station rather than get it towed.  In the process of strong-arming the car to its destination, she lost control, causing the car to careen backward, striking a parked car in its wake.  was dispatched to tow the car.

Thursday, Nov. 3

8:49 a.m. – An officer on routine patrol noticed a 2007 BMW on cinder blocks parked in the lot behind an apartment building on North Chatsworth Avenue.  All four tires were missing.  The theft was estimated to have occurred anytime between Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 3 at 8:30 a.m.

7:32 p.m. – A West Brookside Drive resident reported that someone attempted to fraudently use their American Express card when a $1,200 charge for camera lenses appeared on their statement.  The identity thief was unable to complete the transaction.
