Police Blotter: Stolen Car Recovered Without a Hitch, GPS Tempts Thief and DWIs

The following arrest information was supplied by the Village and Town of Mamaroneck police departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Village of Mamaroneck

Thursday, Feb. 2

7:03 a.m. – The owner of a 1995 Toyota reported that the car was broken into overnight while it was parked and unoccupied on the 400 block of Palmer Avenue.  The passenger window was smashed and a $120 GPS was stolen.

1:17 p.m. – A thief absconded with a $250 GPS after smashing the passenger side window of a 2006 Nissan parked and unoccupied on Palmer Avenue overnight.

2:47 a.m. – A 30-year-old Staten Island man driving a 2005 Lotus was pulled over on Mamaroneck Avenue for a traffic infraction.  Upon further investigation, he was arrested and charged with DWI.

3:52 a.m. – A 25-year-old village man driving a 2011 GMC was stopped on Spencer Avenue for a traffic infraction, however, upon further investigation, was arrested on a DWI charge.

10:39 p.m. – After a 59-year-old village man was seen plowing his 1995 Mitsubishi into three parked cars on New Street by a witness, police caught up with him, arresting and charging him with DWI, unlicensed operator and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.  He was released on bail and is due back in court on Feb. 19.

Saturday, Feb. 4

12:30 a.m. – A 24-year-old Peekskill woman driving a 2001 Honda was pulled over for a traffic infraction on Mamaroneck Avenue.  She was later arrested on a DWI charge.

2:51 a.m. – A 46-year-old village man driving a 2011 Jeep was stopped for a traffic infraction in front of 500 Palmer Ave. and, after further investigation, arrested on a DWI charge.

3:47 p.m. – Police were called to the scene of a verbal spat on Mamaroneck Avenue between a restaurant employee and one of the restaurant’s customers.  The customer left before the spat was escalated further.

5:32 p.m. – The owner of a car reported fresh scratch marks on the driver’s side door while it was parked in a lot on Palmer Avenue.

Sunday, Feb. 5

1:40 a.m. – After a 27-year-old Bronx woman driving a 2004 Hyundai was stopped for a traffic infraction, police arrested her on DWI charges.

1:53 p.m. – Although the registered owner of a 1994 Toyota originally reported his/her missing car as stolen, the New Rochelle resident had a change of heart and refused to press charges after the car was located by village police.  The perpetrator—a 17-year-old New Rochelle male—was charged with DWI after being stopped on Orienta Avenue, but escaped charges of vehicle theft.

11:20 p.m. – A 27-year-old Yonkers man driving an Acura was pulled over for a traffic infraction on Mamaroneck Avenue and later arrested on a DWI charge.

1:28 p.m. – A McKenna Place resident reported several fraudulent charges on his credit card from Jan. 12, 2012.
