Police Blotter: Taken For a Ride on Craigslist, Neighborly Advice 'Get a Damn Hobby,' and Flim Flam Attempt

The following arrest information was supplied by the Village and Town of Mamaroneck police departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Village of Mamaroneck

Wednesday, June 22

7:21 a.m. – An officer patrolling Woodbine Avenue noticed graffiti spray painted on a stop sign.

1:35 p.m. – After a traffic stop for a motor vehicle infraction in front of 327 Mamaroneck Ave.—near —police arrested the driver of the vehicle for being unlicensed.  He is due back in village court soon.

3:55 p.m. - A (MHS) student reported a black iPhone 4 in a blue case missing.   She last remembers seeing it in the clay room at MHS.

6:05 p.m. – After an officer heard the thumping bassline of a booming sound system resonating from a distance of 150 feet in front of 225 Mamaroneck Ave., he issued a 50-year old Bronx resident a village for loud radio. The man is due back in court on July 12.

7:58 p.m. – A 27-year old Flushing, Queens resident was unpleasantly surprised to learn that the car he purchased off Craigslist was, in fact, not for sale by the original owner, but stolen.  The Queens resident and his seller met on Mamaroneck Avenue to complete the transfer of “ownership," however the seller was not a village resident. Shortly after he registered the car in his name, the original owner spotted the car on the street in Queens, and alerted the police.  The New York Police Department (NYPD) is investigating.

10:49 p.m. – An officer on routine patrol spotted a 20-year old village resident drinking in public; he was also in possession of marijuana. He was charged with unlawful possession of alcohol and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Thursday, June 23

12:07 a.m. – A report of youths in a rowboat and drinking in Harbor Island Park was unfounded.

12:19 a.m. – A 21-year old Town of Mamaroneck resident was pulled over for a motor vehicle infraction and later charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

2:05 a.m. – A publicly intoxicated person in front of 215 Prospect Ave. was taken to Sound Shore Medical Center.

3:11 a.m. – A 19-year old village resident turned himself into police on a harassment summons from June 10. 

9:35 p.m. – An existing rivalry between two neighbors on Staub Court was further stirred up when one neighbor snapped at the other and said, “get a damn hobby,” as he sat on his front porch.  The incident was documented only.

10:22 p.m. – Loud talking—originally thought to be kids—was actually a group of people exiting a church on Ward Avenue.

Town of Mamaroneck

Wednesday, June 22

6:40 a.m. – The window of a Honda parked in the driveway of a home on Marbourne Drive was smashed and a Garmin GPS system valued at $300 was stolen.

7:07 a.m. – A thief attempted to pilfer items from two vehicles in the driveway of a Carriage House Lane residence, by smashing windows and rifling through the interiors of the cars.  Nothing was stolen.

10:35 a.m. – Four license plates (two sets) went missing from ’s showroom on 2155 Palmer Ave. The license plates were not affixed to cars.

12:15 p.m. – A resident of Robins Nest Lane reported that they received a call—and an attempted flim-flam—from unknown scam artists.  Police are investigating.

6:37 p.m. – An apartment in a building on 1444 Boston Post Rd. was broken into, however, no sign of forced entry was present.  The missing items included several hundred dollars worth of jewelry, US currency and an Olympus video recorder.
