Police Blotter: Tire Thief Makes Off With All Four Wheels, Cranky Tenants and Tool Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the Village and Town of Mamaroneck police departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Village of Mamaroneck

Saturday, September 3

12:57 a.m. – Police received a call about a road-rage incident and subsequently pulled over a 22-year old Bronx male on the 500 block of Mamaroneck Avenue driving a silver, four-door sedan that fit the description of the car involved in the incident.  After interviewing the driver, he was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

3:25 a.m. – A 25-year old female driving a 2011 VW was pulled over on Mamaroneck Avenue for a traffic violation.  She was subsequently arrested for being an unlicensed operator and later released on bail.  She is due back in village court shortly.

6:22 a.m. – The owner of a pick-up truck reported $1,300 worth of tools missing from the bed of his truck after it was parked and unoccupied on Palmer Avenue.

Sunday, September 4

1:28 p.m. – A chorus of kids banging on a car in Harbor Island Park caused a resident to complain to police about the commotion.  Upon further investigation, it turned out that one of the kids had locked his keys in the car and, in a futile attempt to get them back, repeatedly banged on the exterior in frustration.

3:10 a.m. – A fight between three village men ended with no charges being pursued, despite one man’s facial contusion.

Monday, September 5

1:28 a.m. – A 23-year old Rye male was stopped on the 400 block of Mamaroneck Avenue for a motor vehicle violation.  After an investigation by police, he was arrested and charged with DWI.  A passenger in the car was issued a village code summons for an open container of alcohol.

2:18 a.m. – Police responded to a possible fight in progress which turned out to be a verbal argument that police did not need to break up.

7:35 a.m. – The owner of a 1999 Dodge reported that the passenger window of his vehicle was smashed and an iPod and GPS unit—total value $250—were swiped while the car was parked and unoccupied on Mount Pleasant Avenue.

12:18 p.m. – A resident of an apartment building on Palmer Terrace complained that an elderly woman was shrieking at kids on the playground for unknown reasons. It was decided that the co-op board would send the woman a warning letter.

10:15 p.m. – Police received a report that a man was repeatedly banging on the door of a second floor apartment at Soundview Apartments on 151 Fenimore Rd.

Monday, September 5

8:46 a.m. – An Orchard Road resident reported that an unknown person attempted to open several fraudulent credit cards accounts using his identity. 

7:00 p.m. – A resident of Larchmont Acres reported that four tires and rims were stolen from his car, which was parked in the apartment’s lot.  Several lug nuts and a pair of pliers were found on the scene.  The loss is estimated to exceed $1,000, making it a felony charge of fourth-degree grand larceny.  The matter is under investigation.
