Police Seize Marijuana, THC Candy At Mamaroneck Smoke Shop

Cops said the illegal products on sale at the Mamaroneck Ave. store were uncovered after complaints from parents led to an investigation.

MAMARONECK, NY — Police seized products and issued citations to a Mamaroneck store accused of selling dangerous and illegal products that might be tempting to children and teenagers.

After receiving complaints from parents, business owners and community members about a store possibly selling dangerous and illegal products to young teenagers and the general public, the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department investigated the "Mamaroneck Convenience Store," located at 311 Mamaroneck Avenue.

Investigators say they found that the store was selling a slew of products illegally, including:

  • Marijuana (the Village of Mamaroneck opted out of any cannabis dispensaries or onsite consumption establishment anywhere in the village)
  • Flavored e-cigarettes/vapes
  • CBD-flavored gummies
  • THC-flavored gummies
  • Pre-rolled Marijuana cigarettes
  • THC liquid vape/oils
  • Delta 8 THC

Some of these products were packaged to look like candy to appear attractive and appealing to young children and teenagers, police said. Despite their appearance, just one gummy or candy bar can contain several times the recommended adult dose of THC, according to officials. Anyone who eats an entire THC edible, especially a child, can experience effects such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Paranoia
  • Heart problems
  • Apnea (not breathing for 10 seconds or longer)
  • Altered perception
  • Slurred speech

Summonses were issued to both the business and a store employee, according to police. The illegal products were seized by the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department.
