Smash-And-Grab Robberies Send Police On Manhunts Across Westchester
A Central Pk. Ave. robbery had cops looking for suspects who bailed from a crash, while Larchmont PD warned neighbors about another pursuit.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Police from jurisdictions across Westchester pursued suspects in what appears to be two separate smash-and-grab robberies. Manhunts in Yonkers and the Village of Larchmont made for a tense Wednesday evening for neighbors.
Yonkers police say the two robberies that sent law enforcement across the region scrambling to locate suspects might be connected.
A group of smash-and-grab thieves targeted a jewelry store on Central Park Avenue in Yonkers earlier on Wednesday. Police said that the larger group may also be connected to a similar incident in another Westchester jurisdiction. Westchester County police spotted and tried to stop two suspect vehicles near Central Park Avenue and Mile Square Road.

The vehicles fled. One crashed on Staunton Street. Three suspects bailed on Staunton Street and Yonkers police have one person of interest in custody. A search for the other two suspects continued.
Meanwhile, Larchmont issued an alert to residents of an affluent neighborhood in the village.

"Residents should be advised of police activity in the Manor related to a pursuit of robbery suspects from another jurisdiction," officials said in an alert issued just before 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. "Residents should lock their doors and report anything suspicious to the Larchmont Police Department at 914-834-1000. At least one, possibly two suspects, remain at large. The only description given is black male(s), possibly wearing dark clothing."

Larchmont police said two of the four suspects were taken into custody. Larchmont police and Westchester County police remained active in the area throughout the night looking for two suspects who were still at large after bailing from a car.
A large contingent of Larchmont police, Westchester County police and unmarked law enforcement vehicles converged on the scene at a house on the corner of Walnut Avenue and Circle Avenue in the village. Law enforcement and crime scene investigators gathered evidence nearby and a four-door Infinity/G was impounded and towed from the scene in Larchmont.

Residents mostly heeded the advice of law enforcement and the streets and sidewalks near Manor Park in Larchmont remained mostly deserted throughout the evening, other than the noticeably stepped-up patrols by Westchester County, Larchmont and Town of Mamaroneck police.
"Larchmont Police Department has completed their search of the Manor with assistance from neighboring Police Departments and public safety agencies," officials said in a statement released late Thursday morning. "Suspects believed to be no longer in the Manor at this time. Larchmont Police will implement enhanced patrols to ensure the public's safety and security for the coming days. If anyone sees any suspicious activity, or finds suspicious objects on their properties, please contact Larchmont Police Department at 914-834-1000."
