SPECTACULAR QUILTS from TRADITIONAL BLOCKS
Barbara Glab presents, "Spectacular Quilts from Traditional Blocks", an exhibit on display at the Larchmont Public Library

Barbara Glab presents, “Spectacular Quilts from Traditional Blocks”, an exhibit on display in the Larchmont Public Library’s Oresman Gallery from November 4, through November 29, 2019. The exhibit is free and open to everyone during normal library hours.
In addition to the gallery exhibit, Barbara will host an “ART TALK” in the Oresman Gallery on Saturday, November 9 at 2:00pm, in which she will talk about the art of quiltmaking, her inspirations for the quilts in the exhibit and answer questions.
To further her education, Barbara Glab emigrated from the city of Szczecin, Poland at the age of 24 to the United States. As a young child in Europe she discovered an interest for not only collecting dolls but sewing clothes for them. This interest developed into designing wardrobes for herself and later for her two daughters. This hobby, borne out of necessity, matured to a lifestyle of working with her hands in the needle arts: knitting, embroidering, cross stitching, and traditional rug hooking. As Barbara became more proficient with needle and thread, her interests grew to include quilting. Her energies were soon directed to designing and creating them.

“My natural instincts were stimulated and enhanced as I progressed with greater skills becoming more advanced in technique and developing a personal creative style”, said Barbara. “The work I produce is a personification of my lifetime of input. I am inspired by the traditional quilts and hence all of my quilts are beautifully finished by Amish hand quilting.
Scrappy quilts are comprised of many fabrics, personally hand selected by Barbara based upon fiber content, texture, color, pattern and size and by what appeals to her senses.
