On Saturday, November 17th, St. John’s Episcopal Church in Larchmont will be holding its annual ECW (Episcopal Church Women) Christmas Bazaar. This longstanding tradition benefits the ECW Outreach program, which awards grants to local organizations in need, especially those assisting women and children.
As soon as you step into St. John’s Parish Hall you’ll find a festive atmosphere, brimming with excitement and parishioners ready to welcome you. Starting in the Collectibles Room, you may find Waterford crystal, Wedgewood china, antique silver, or, if you’re lucky, a piece of Tiffany jewelry. Stroll through the toy section, and you might stumble across the Playmobil set your child has been asking for, (but for a fraction of the price) or a game for the whole family to enjoy. Make your way to the electronics area and you might be surprised to come across an old turntable. You’ll finally have an excuse to pull out the old vinyl records. If you feel like having a treat, look no further, next to the electronics will be plenty of homemade baked goods.
And don’t forget the White Elephant room. Bursting at the seams with household items, the White Elephant room never disappoints. Hosting Thanksgiving this year? Here is your opportunity to buy a set of plates or wine glasses at rock bottom prices. It’s perfect. You can avoid using paper and plastic, (it’s better for the environment), and your purchase goes towards charity.

Gearing up for the holidays? St. John’s is bringing back its “Blazers and Bows” department. Here you’ll find gently used holiday wear for children. Or if you’re looking for a special gift, visit the handcraft table or the Holiday Home section, offering a variety of festive décor to brighten up your home.
The Bazaar also offers a Silent Auction, with a wide variety of items for sale, from vacation homes to tickets to sporting events. Speaking of sporting events, don’t forget to step outside onto the church lawn where you’ll find all types of gently used sporting goods, from bicycles to ice skates to hockey sticks.

Once you’ve exhausted yourself with all of your Bazaar shopping, it’s time to head downstairs to the undercroft for lunch. The Bazaar Café offers chili and sandwiches for sale. Who knows, maybe you’ll find a burst of energy and keep on shopping?
But the Bazaar isn’t just about shopping. It’s an opportunity to build friendships and connect with other members of the community. In addition to fellowship, it is an opportunity to contribute to the ECW Outreach program. ECW Outreach grants are awarded to local charities, especially those that serve women and children in need. Past recipients include the Community Resource Center, Mamaroneck-Larchmont Student Aid Fund, Family Services of Westchester - Sharing Shelf, Furniture Sharehouse, Co-Op Camp – STEM Alliance, At Home on the Sound and Providence House.
