A Suspicious Car, Crash, Chase & A Crime Solved In Mamaroneck: Police
Police from Peekskill, Larchmont, the Village of Mamaroneck, the Town of Mamaroneck & the MTA closed the dragnet on a suspect from Queens.

MAMARONECK, NY — A suspicious vehicle lurking at a Mamaroneck business after hours fled police, crashed and led to a multiagency manhunt, but eventually resulted in a felony arrest, according to Village of Mamaroneck police.
On Monday, shortly after 2:30 a.m, a police officer patrolling the 1500 block of East Boston Post Road spotted a suspicious vehicle parked and idling with its lights off in the parking lot of a business that was closed for the evening. The officer pulled into the parking lot in a marked patrol car causing the suspicious vehicle to immediately flee.
The officer followed the vehicle, which soon crashed near North Barry Avenue and First Street. There were no occupants inside when police arrived.

Police from Larchmont, the MTA and the Town of Mamaroneck converged on the scene, according to officials. Officers from as far away as Peekskill were called to help assist with K-9 support. After a perimeter was set up, police began a search for the driver. A suspect was found hiding in the backyard of a home.

Village of Mamaroneck detectives learned that the suspect and suspect vehicle were a person and vehicle of interest in several burglaries in Connecticut.
The suspect was later identified as Rickford Vyphuisa, a 32-year-old Saint Albans resident.
Vyphuisa was charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property, possession of burglar’s tools, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. In accordance with New York State law, he was processed and released on an appearance ticket, pending a future court date, according to officials.
