The Village of Mamaroneck Fire Department ushered in three new chiefs last night.
Last night was the changing of the guard for the Village of Mamaroneck Fire Department.
The all-volunteer, 129-year-old fire company swore in three new members of its force: Chief Robert "Bubba" Pecchia, First Assistant Chief Craig Casterlla and Second Assistant Chief Tracey Schmaling.

Pecchia's wife, Kristen, spoke lovingly of her husband and his dedication as a firefighter.
"My kids and I and my whole family are so proud of him. He puts his heart and soul into the department," she said, while holding back tears.

But, the job is not always easy. Firefighters often sacrifice time with their own families to help others out of crisis situations.
"I have to thank my wife and two amazing children...they have suffered most of all," said Pecchia.
Relishing his previous role as a first assistant chief or "baby chief," Pecchia said that there was "little responsibility and lots of lights and sirens."
Mayor Norm Rosenblum was said that the fire department embodied everthing the village stood for.
"If there was one department in the Village of Mamaroneck that was the core of the spirit of the Village of Mamaroneck, it's the fire department."
