MAMARONECK, NY — Spring cleaning is an annual right of passage, but a fall cleanup ahead of winter weather might be even more important.

The Village of Mamaroneck's Committee for the Environment is looking for volunteers for the fall Clean & Green Day on Saturday. Volunteers can sign up to pick up litter at a dozen locations around town.

The event will kick off at 9:30 a.m. at the Marine Education Center in Harbor Island Park with brief opening remarks. Volunteer teams will then head to their chosen cleanup locations. Site cleanup is expected to be over by noon (or earlier).

Trash bags, gloves and tools will be provided at Harbor Island Park at the beginning of the event or at each cleanup location. Volunteers are also welcome to bring their own supplies. In order to get an accurate headcount and prepare each worksite, organizers are asking volunteers to sign up by Friday.

A shedding station and food trucks will also be on hand at Harbor Island Park during the cleanup event.
