Update; TOM Residents Vote to Purchase New Rescue Truck, Equipment
The new truck, along with required accessories, will cost $1,050,000.

The Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department will be receiving a new rescue vehicle and new fire pump—with a total price tag of $1,050,000—as of a vote on Tuesday, June 22.
The rescue vehicle is used to aid serious automobile accidents, not extinguish fires. Town residents overwhelmingly voted "yes" (65-7) at a special meeting of the Fire Commissioners to purchase the equipment.
"In my time here, bond referendums have always passed," said Town Administrator Stephen Altieri. "There's a general realization that rescue equipment is important."

Altieri also noted voter turnout—72 residents—was less than he expected.
Correction: This article previously reported the fire department was purchasing a new fire truck, not a rescue vehicle. The information has been corrected.
