Town of Mamaroneck Launches New Portal for Government Business
Open Gov will give public 24-7 access to permit and record requests

Mamaroneck NY - October, 2023 - Town of Mamaroneck residents now have easier access to their government, filing and tracking a variety of applications to different Town departments online from the convenience of their homes 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Starting October 1, residents can use a new portal – OpenGov – to conduct business directly from the Town’s website. The public can request information, file for permits from the Town Clerk, Building, Engineering and Conservation Departments and more, including requesting and filing for:

· Freedom of information (FOIL) requests
“With this new portal the public can conduct business with the Town of Mamaroneck at any time of day,’’ said Town Supervisor Jaine Elkind Eney. “They can file for permits and track their requests through the portal. This will make access to our town government easier, and will allow our employees to use their time more efficiently to serve our residents in other ways.”
According to Town Clerk Allison May the portal is easy to use. Once the user creates a profile, it can be used across multiple departments for a variety of permit requests, so basic information does not need to be entered over and over. The information can also be shared, so everyone can track progress online.
“You can set up your own profile, then request permits from many departments. You can then log into your portal and track applications in real time,’’ said May. “If you’re having work done on your house, you can share the permitting with your contractor and you both can see when the permit is approved and ready to go. It should reduce processing time and save a lot of phone calls.’’
In addition, the portal will use one payment system instead of the several systems currently used by the different departments of the Town, saving the Town, and its residents, time and money.
“This new innovative software will better serve our residents and make government more efficient” said Elkind Eney.
