Village of Mamaroneck Police Blotter

Downed wires and trees, car accidents were reported during last week's inclement weather.

The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department investigated the following incidents last week:

Motor Vehicle Accidents

During last Thursday's inclement weather, several drivers lost control of their vehicles. At approximately 8:50 a.m., there were two separate accidents on East Prospect Avenue. The first driver was traveling downhill on the avenue when her car began to slide, she told police. She wasn't able to stop the vehicle, which struck the guardrail. The driver complained of back pain and was taken to the hospital.

On the morning of Jan. 28, there was a fluid spill on Fenimore Road, between Palmer Avenue and Boston Post Road. That section of Fenimore was closed for about 40 minutes until the condition was corrected.

Officers from the Village of Mamaroneck Fire, Police, Health, Sewer and Public Works departments were on the scene.

"Our guess is that a Department of Public Workstruck broke and dropped hydraulic fluid in the general area," said 2nd Assistant Fire Chief Robert Pecchia. It could also have come from a salt truck, he said.

Ceiling Collapse

On Jan. 25, the bathroom ceiling of a first floor apartment on Palmer Avenue collapsed, residents told police. The Fire Department responded and determined that the collapse had been caused by building materials disposed of in between the ceiling of the first floor and the second floor. The second floor tenant had redone her bathroom recently, police said. The Building Department responded and the condition was made safe. No injuries were reported.

There were also:

- 11 arrests, 2 of which were for DWI (Today at 12 a.m., one drunk driver struck four parked cars on Library Lane and was subsequently arrested)

- 6 motor vehicle accidents, one with injuries
