Village and Town of Mamaroneck Police Blotters

Two pedestrians struck by vehicles; a few harassment arrests.

Last week, the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department investigated the following incidents:

Hit & Run

- On Feb. 4, at about 8:40 a.m., police arrived at 1100 E Boston Post Rd. on a report of a hit and run vehicle-pedestrian accident. The pedestrian told police that she was struck by a vehicle exiting a parking lot. She was struck in the knee, which knocked her to the ground, police said. EMS responded and she was taken to the hospital.

The victim, a 34-year-old Mamaroneck resident, said that the vehicle was a silver four-door Sedan and the driver a white female in her late 30s, early 40s.  

Harassment and Intimidation of Witness

- On Feb. 4, a man told police that he had been approached and threatened by a woman from Mount Vernon. The woman's boyfriend had stolen $400 in cash from a local store on Mamaroneck Avenue in January and the woman wanted the complainant to drop the petit larceny charges against her boyfriend or "he would get hurt," police said she said. The woman, Adele Wauchope, 25, from Mount Vernon, was charged with harassment and intimidating a victim/witness in the third degree, which is a felony.  

Harassment and Resisting Arrest

- On Feb. 6, at about 6:30 p.m., police responded to a Mamaroneck Avenue apartment on a report of a possible break-in. The residents told police that the two parties involved had entered the apartment unwanted and assaulted one of the men present. The man, who had questioned the subjects' behavior, was head-butted and fell to the floor. The subjects then punched the man in the face, causing physical injury, police said. He received medical aid.

The two subjects stole food from the apartment and ran upstairs, where they were confronted by police. One of the subjects was tasered for resisting arrest. A total of five police officers were involved in hand-cuffing the two men.

The tasered man was taken to a hospital, where the probes were removed, and was later charged with harassment, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and assault. He is a 23-year-old man residing in the Village. The second man, a 17-year-old Village resident, was charged with harassment and resisting arrest.

Identity Theft

- After an Orienta Avenue resident reported that his credit card number had been used to make a purchase, he was contacted by a federal agency indicating that they had arrested the individuals responsible and advised him to document the incident with the Police Department. He did so on Feb. 1st. The individuals' prosecution is pending. 

Trespassing

- On Feb. 1st, at approximately 7:40 p.m., two homeless males were arrested for criminal trespassing after police determined they had forced a door open to enter the Harbor Island East Basin locker room, which is closed during the winter. The two males were held for arraignment, police said. 

Burglary

- On Jan. 2nd, at approximately 3:40 p.m., a Mamaroneck Avenue resident reported that several items were missing from the home, but there were no signs of forced entry. 

Larceny

- On Feb. 2nd, at around 9:20 a.m., a woman reported that someone had taken furniture from her home on Florence Street. She was in the process of moving and had left some furniture in the foyer of her apartment, police said. 

Gas Odor

- On Feb. 3, at about 2 p.m., police responded to Stoneybrook Avenue on a report of a gas line that had been punctured by a construction crew. The Fire Department and ConEdison responded and the condition was corrected. 

In addition, police reported 12 scofflaw impounds, 10 motor vehicle accidents and 6 vehicle and traffic arrests.

Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle

- On Feb. 3rd, at around 9:30 a.m., a 57-year-old New Rochelle resident was struck by a vehicle on Fenimore Road, according to police reports. The conductor said she was stopped behind a Town sanitation truck, which was stationary, in the southbound lane of Fenimore Road. As she proceeded to pass the truck on its driver's side, she struck the victim, who she hadn't seen prior to the impact.

The victim said he was struck white attempting to cross the road and did not see the vehicle until being hit. He complained of back pain and was conscious when Larchmont Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported him to New Rochelle Hospital. 

Leaving the Scene of an Auto Accident

- On Feb. 5th, a Larchmont resident reported that her car, which she had parked near Palmer Avenue and Richbell Road the night before, had been damaged overnight. Damages were reported to the rear (driver's side) and quarter panel. 

Police reported four motor vehicle accidents.
