DWIs
- A 34-year-old Village resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated on March 9th, at approximately 10 a.m., near the 1200 block of West Boston Post Road. The man was driving southbound on Fenimore Road when an off-duty police officer saw him come to a sudden stop at the red light, police said. The officer reported that he had to swerve to get out of the other vehicle's way. The officer stopped the vehicle and identified himself as a member of the Police Department, required additional assistance and proceeded to arrest the man. Upon taking the data master test, it was determined that he had 0.08 of 1 percent or more of alcohol in his blood. He was charged with two counts of DWI.
- A 37-year-old man from New York City was arrested for driving while intoxicated on East Boston Post Road on March 11, at approximately 1 p.m. The man was driving east when a police officer stopped him for speeding, according to police reports. Upon determining that the driver had been driving while intoxicated, he was arrested and taken to Police Headquarters, where he took the test and proved to have 0.08 of 1 percent or more of alcohol in his blood.
Arrest
- On March 10, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a 65-year-old man from Westport, Conn., was arrested for driving with a suspended New York State license (the man also had an expired Connecticut license). The man was stopped for driving through a red light while going south on Mamaroneck Avenue at Nostrand Avenue. Upon being stopped by the officer, the man became aggressive and threatened the officer, police said. He was subsequently arrested, charged with unlicensed operation in the third degree and for a traffic infraction, and released on bail.
Arrest in Error
- On March 11, at approximately 3:15 p.m., a vehicle was stopped for making an illegal u-turn on Mamaroneck Avenue. Upon stopping, the driver, a 37-year-old female from Connecticut, produced an ID card, saying she did not have a valid driver's license, police said. After running a check on the vehicle's plates, they came back as stolen from Indianapolis. The driver and passenger were told to exit the vehicle and were arrested. Upon further investigation between the Mamaroneck and Indianapolis police departments, it was determined that the stolen plate belonged to a motorcycle, not a passenger vehicle, with the same numbers. Indiana issues plates with the same numbers for both motorcycles and cars, police said. The driver was given two summons and both women released.
The Police Department also investigated the following:
- 15 motor vehicle accidents
