In celebration of Earth Day, Arbor Day and to help maintain the cleanliness of our vital waterways and our quality of life, the Village of Mamaroneck is seeking volunteers of all ages to take part in the 6th Annual Clean Up/Green Up Day, Saturday, April 26, 2014.
At the annual event, which will run from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Harbor Island Park, volunteers will be provided with rakes, gloves, garbage bags and recyclable paper leaf bags to use in our beautiful parks and beach to prepare for summer. The first 100 participants will receive two free re-usable shopping bags. Light refreshments will be served to all volunteers. The day’s activities will also include the annual tree planting ceremony and the official re-opening of the Marine Education Center, which provides interactive marine-themed displays to educate our youth and visitors about the delicate Sound Shore marine ecosystem.
“We’re extremely fortunate in our “Friendly Village” to have so many devoted, tireless volunteers that help make our community such an attractive, lively and vibrant place to live. We’re looking forward to seeing them all, and some new faces, on April 26”, said Mayor Norman Rosenblum.

“Annual Clean Up/Green Up Day is a great opportunity for the people of Mamaroneck to come together to help maintain and beautify our sea-side community, while also educating residents of all ages on the importance of both community activism and sustainability,” said Village Manager Rich Slingerland.
